At the beginning when I had just barely entered this school, it seemed like a breath of fresh air, it seemed so much better than my previous school and I loved it. Now, I have encountered sexist and biased teachers that will shut down your opinion if they even slightly disagree, from my experience this year, some teachers can barely teach their own class, let alone try and teach extra on the side. Teachers seem to favor certain students, allowing them to get away scott-free, while others get in serious trouble for the same actions, I've even seen certain people hit girls and nothing is done about it. Don't even get me started on the edge team, this team exists as a dump for any kids with behavior issues or the kids that are... different, and Or administration started receiving complaints from parents about this, so they started throwing some normal kids in the mix to make the team seem "normal", which in the end ruins these normal kids' chances to fit in and make friends with kids on the other teams in the school. Para educators just sit in the back of the class on their phones, and nothing is done about it. The athletics director never seems to mind his own business, and is terrible at his job, as he seems to ruin every sport he decides to come more involved in. The entire administration in this school sucks, with things like the ALC and Peerleaders, which are a group of students trying to "improve the learning environment" the school is even worse, these groups basically allow students to do anything they want with no consequence, because the administration believes that there is no way they could ever do anything wrong. I hate this school with a passion and have no respect for the administration in this current state.
NO JOKE THERES KIDS THAT DO DRUGS AND PRETEND TO SHOOT UP THE SCHOOL AND THE TEACHERS DO NOTHING ABOUT IT IF YOU WANT TO PUT YOUR KID THROUGH THIS HELL HOLE GOOD LUCK SHE/HE WILL NEED IT.
I sent little daddy to this school and it was the worst mistake of our life he had great girlfriends too many Drugs,Gangs, and Girl problem's now Little Daddy was great now if you're sending your children to this school I just want to say good luck our administration team is [REDACTED] and dont know how to organize a trip and even simple but hey at least
" or "bullying". Not all teachers, but many, and it makes you feel degraded and disrespected. Also, students want to express themselves and show people who they actually are, by wearing what they feel is right, but the teachers don't care and make you not wear that anymore or change you opinion on how you feel about it. Furthermore, there are multiple teachers that made me uncomfortable during my experience at this school. Girls knew that they shouldn't wear skirts or dresses during certain classes in fears of the teacher making an uncomfortable comment or look. Teachers do not accommodate students who need a non-traditional approach towards education, making this school the worst experience of both our education paths so far.
I was a student here between 2010 and 2012 on the Galaxy team and I had a great time. At the time everyone was great but im not quite sure what happened since based on the reviews of the other people.

Hey kids, It's Big Daddy the first thing I would like to say is the Edge team, now you're thinking Daddy what's wrong with the Edge team well I got a story for you kids.
As a former student, I can now say that this school is a terrible waste of taxpayer money. There are many teachers, who do barely anything related to the job they are payed for. Most of these people include "Para-Educators" who just end up sitting in the back of class on their phones. Another problem with the school, is the "Edge" team. This group of classes used to be for students with disabilities, or behavioral issues, but now new students are being dumped into it without cause. On this team, students are pressured to become different from the students on other teams, which ends up, with many graduating students being LGBTQ. This is the real reason for the name, "Edge".
The edge team is composed of multi mental disorders such as LGBTQUIAAVSADASD+ and when we prove that there's 2 genders you get in trouble because it's illegal to "bully" kids that have mental disorders our staff doesn't know how to their job but yet gets paid.
From the perspective of two former students, we believe that Essex middle school is not a sutible environment for the average middle schooler. First off, let's start at the ALC and peerleaders of the school. They can do anything bad from A-Z, and get away with it easily because the directors believe that they are the perfect student leaders. There are also kids that are not good people, and are on things like peerleaders. They will look like a great kid around the teachers, but are actually in the middle of an "act." Also, if you try to make a point or share your opinion, it will be brushed aside or you will get in trouble for it, for "harassment
