Staff are ready to help when you walk in the door
I appreciate all of the staff except Evette who is unfortunaly there most of the time. She is rude and condescending. Often she is incorrect when offering advice but speaks to me as if I were a fool. When I can go somewhere else, I do, when I don't feel like being treated poorly.
Bibens Ace stores beat the box stores hands down. They happily locate stock when I call, and always have the price when they come back on the phone, whether I ask or not. Rarely do they not have what I need. When you walk in the door, they are there to help you, or point the independent sort to the right aisle. They carry heavy things out to the car to load. Sure, they're busy sometimes and I have to try calling a second time to check stock. Sure, an employee sometimes has a bad day and is less courteous than they might be otherwise. That happens in every retail establishment. I choose not to judge the store by those instances; only those who are practically perfect in every way, at every time should be doing that, and Mary Poppins is fictional. Get a grip, people. Bibens Ace stores in Essex and Colchester are the most user-friendly hardware & home stores in the area!
I have never had to wait for help and the crew seems well trained. Very happy with this team.
We just moved here recently from California. Everyone in VT has been really nice and helpful...until coming into this place. A blond, male cashier was extremely rude and seemed put out when I didn't know the size of my propane tanks. He charged me $54 for what amounted to 15 gallons of propane (pay by tank size according to him). I just paid $28 to have the same tanks filled in California three weeks ago. My wife got cold service from an elderly woman on paint questions. The woman seemed too busy giving her curt answers. We were going to buy C-K paint to paint both the interior and exterior of our 4400 SF VT home. But not from them...We won't be buying anything from Ace!
